Pistol Range
The Alexandria Chapter operates a 10-lane outdoor pistol range at 60 yards for members and authorized guests. The range features covered firing positions and is managed to the same high safety standards as our other shooting facilities.

Range Hours
9:00 AM to sunset — always check the chapter calendar for scheduled closures due to competitions, maintenance, or construction projects.
Range Specifications
- Lanes: 10 firing positions
- Distance: 60 yards maximum
- Positions: Covered firing positions
- Target area: Earthen berm backstop with target stands and steel target frames
Range Rules
All shooters and visitors must adhere to the following rules at all times:
- Eye and ear protection required at all times when on or near the firing line
- All firearms must be unloaded and cased when not on the firing line
- RSO must be present during organized events, competitions, and monthly guest weekends
- Follow all posted range commands — cease fire immediately when called
- NO shooting forward of the red lines — all shooting must occur from behind designated firing positions
- Steel targets must be shot from the firing line only — do not advance to engage steel
- No tracer, incendiary, or armor-piercing ammunition
- Clean up your brass, targets, and trash before leaving
- Report any range damage or safety concerns to the Range Manager
Range Construction & Closures
Range construction and improvement projects may cause temporary closures of all or part of the pistol range. Always check the chapter calendar for the latest closure notices before visiting. Closures are posted in advance when possible.
Guest Policy
Members may bring up to 2 guests per month to the pistol range. The sponsoring member must remain with guests at all times. RSO guest vouchers are available for qualified RSOs to bring guests for 3-hour sessions.
Competitions
The pistol range hosts Steel Challenge matches monthly, featuring fast-paced rimfire and centerfire divisions on steel plate arrays. USPSA and other action pistol events are also hosted throughout the year. See the Competitions page for schedules and details.
