CMP — Civilian Marksmanship Program Matches

The Alexandria Chapter is affiliated with the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) and hosts quarterly matches throughout the year. CMP matches promote marksmanship skills using military-style and vintage firearms, keeping alive the traditions of civilian preparedness and firearms proficiency.

  • March 7 — Military & Police Pistol
  • April 4 — Vintage and As-Issued Military Rifle
  • August 1 — Military & Police Pistol
  • October 3 — Rimfire Sporter Rifle

Fees

  • Members: $20
  • Non-members: $30
  • Under 18: FREE

Military & Police Pistol Match Details

  • 8:00 - 8:45 AM: Check-in and registration
  • 8:45 AM: Safety briefing
  • 9:00 AM: Match begins

Course of Fire

45 total shots from 25 yards with varying timed sequences. The course tests accuracy, speed, and proficiency under time pressure with service-type pistols.

Equipment Requirements

  • Firearm: Military or law enforcement pistol, 9mm to .45 caliber (or .22LR for youth/children)
  • Barrel length: 5 inches or less
  • Sights: Standard/service sights only (no optics)
  • Magazines: Two 5-round magazines
  • Ammunition: FMJ (full metal jacket) round nose
  • Safety gear: Eye and ear protection required

Maximum 20 shooters in two relays. Pre-registration is recommended to guarantee a spot.
